Well now that I’m finally in pit my chances of getting a Jolesch photo have tripled and my chance of getting a good Jolesch photo have doubled as a result.
Except now I have to actually make my hair presentable instead of just trying to make it all fit under my shako in some sort of bun. Because in pit land, shakos don’t exist.
And I have to listen back to the band for tempo and trust them. I spy some major changes in my future that include but are not limited to: roasting alive because I’ll be standing in the same spot under the sun, melt downs, attitude changes, tons of inside jokes, bonding with the drum major, more fun than I can imagine, improvement in my mallet and reading technique, learning how to correctly unload the mallet instruments onto the band bus, freaking out over missing mallets and traps instruments, making crazy lists, being altogether stressed, and enjoying every minute of it :)
